Can someone help me place a value on my violin
It is a very light wood violin in an antique wood case with all the leather
material peeling off.The case has a green interior, cloth, and although
sturdy, it looks awful, because it is simply very old.The violin is
colored light wood, with a 2 piece back flamed, flamed sides, a lovely
front with only one small chip in the wood (no cracks or injuries to
it).Inside my violin is a piece of paper that reads: Copy Of (in dropped
slanted lettering on the first line) Josef Guarnerius (second line) Made In (third line) Germany (fourth line). Inside the box are some really old strings.Some are patented 1911, some are williamson or williams or something like that and son from Chicago strings and those are not opened or put on. Does anyone know about this type of violin and its value, date or date of the case?It is not a coffin case, but it is wood with leather or leather-like covering.The hinges and clasps are still working, but are in very poor condition to look at.

you gave.
The only way to know for sure how much ur violin is worth is to take it to
a violin shop & have it appraised. There have been thousands of Guarnieri
copies made over the last 2 centuries. Some were handcrafted by respected
violin makers & are very good. Most of them were mass-produced in factories in Europe (mostly Germany) & are relatively inexpensive student-grade instruments. Its impossible to tell which you have without having it looked at by a knowledgeable violin dealer or appraiser.
